Our new 2022 Club Development initiative was launched recently thanks once again to funding from our long-standing partner, The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust. The SFP Trust is committed to supporting and promoting inclusive football participation at grassroots level throughout Scotland and this initiative aims to invest in the development and growth of 60 Scottish FA Quality Mark Clubs, with a focus on increasing and enhancing participation opportunities for players and the continued development of volunteers.
One of the first recipients of the new 2022 funding was Strathaven Dynamo AFC from the Scottish FA South-West region. This fantastic grassroots club chose to use their funding to support the introduction of their new 2016 age-group. Ryan MacKinnon from the Dynamos thanked both the SFP Trust and The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust and said “Strathaven Dynamo AFC are once again delighted to have received a grant from the SFPT for new equipment to support our new 2016 uptake. We have already put the money to good use to purchase 30 new footballs, training bibs, markers, a full first aid kit, and the funding has also enabled us to bring on 6 new volunteers and get them through SFA and first aid training courses. Covid caused a delay to the age group starting up but it’s now great to be able to welcome 24 new players into the club and see them having so much fun at the start of their football journey.”
