Kilwinning Community Sports Club, who have over 580 playing members and 74 registered coaches were recently awarded a £500 Club Development Grant from The SFP Trust. This initiative was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment/funding First Aid training for coaches and thirdly to support Coach Education.
KCSC will utilise their grant to ensure that the new volunteer coaches currently working the club’s 2012 team receive First Aid training and the remaining funds will be put towards the purchase of new footballs, bibs and cones. Colin Hunter from KCSC thanked the SFP Trust for the funding which will be of great benefit to the 25 youngsters playing at the 2012 age group as they begin to play their 4-v-4 games and take their first step on the player pathway that will hopefully see them progress through the ranks at Kilwinning.
