Towards the end of last year, Leithen Vale Sports Club from the Scottish Borders received funding from The SFP Trust’s 2021 Club Development Grant scheme which is supported by the Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust. This fantastic grassroots club from Innerleithen strive to offer a safe environment for kids of all ages to enjoy their football and they offer weekly training sessions for P1-P7 children and from P3, the youngsters start to play fun fours, 7-a-side and 9-a-side games against teams in the local area.
With this grant, the club opted to use the funding to grow their girls section. The photograph above shows the girls from P4 to P7 participating in a tournament hosted in Galashiels. The club were extremely grateful for this award and Chairman Ally Robb said “This makes a huge difference to a small community club like ours. It helps towards the running costs and equipment for the girls team and therefore what we need to make up from membership and subscription fees. We also have girls participating in our mixed age groups at P2 & P3 and we are exploring options for running a separate girls session for them.”
