Rutherglen Glencairn Youth Academy from the Scottish FA west region received funding from The SFP Trust’s 2021 Club Development Grant scheme which is supported by the Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust.
The club opted to use their grant to purchase new winter training kit for their 2008 and 2005 age-groups, helping to support 39 boys. The 2008 age-group was only established last year and the players were fortunate enough to receive match-day kits in a competition which allowed them to participate in a local league.
The club were therefore extremely grateful for this funding. Chairperson Angela Woolton thanked both the SFP Trust and The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust and commented “This £500 award has allowed both teams to purchase training wear suitable for the winter months. With both teams training outdoors, they often have to endure particularly cold training sessions and they are now well prepared for this. In this current financial climate, we were unable to secure sponsorship from local businesses and this grant has helped alleviate the pressure on the club to provide this training kit.”
