The Scottish Football Partnership was delighted to be able to award a Facilities Grant to Motherwell F.C. to assist with the replacement of the old roof covering the East Stand at Fir Park Stadium.
Originally known as the Shed Terracing, it was renamed the East Stand in 1990 when it became an all-seated area and in 2016, the club re-christened it the John Hunter Stand after the club’s legendary Manager.
Chief Operating Officer Alan Burrows was thrilled with the outcome of the project and commented “I would like to sincerely thank the Board of The Scottish Football Partnership for their consideration of our application and the funding awarded to totally revamp the rickety old roof on the John Hunter Stand at Fir Park. This was a vital project for us as the old roof had fallen into a state of disrepair and was causing us tremendous problems in the bad weather, particularly on a matchday where troublesome leaks were not only a hazard, but were having a real negative impact on the fan experience.”
