In May of this year Forfar Farmington F.C and Forfar Athletic F.C took delivery of their new 3G surface at Station Park Forfar. The cost of purchasing the new surface was made possible thanks to an Award from the Scottish Governments Cash back for Communties Scheme and assistance from Angus Council. Forfar Farmington Head Coach Mark Nisbet was keen to stress that the new surface will benefit the whole community in Forfar as it will provide a year round training and playing venue for between 500 and 600 players every week. “My own club, Forfar Athletic,Forfar Boys,Lochside F.C,Dundee West End Juniors, The Scottish FA’s disability squad and local school children are able to gain access to the new state of the art surface every day of the week. With so many new users of the site, which locals have dubbed the ‘Station Park Experience’ it became aparent very quickly that the ground did not have enough changing rooms to meet with the demand. In August Forfar Farmington, on behalf of the wider community approached The Scottish Football Partnership to ask for help in solving the facility gap . What struck everyone was how quickly the SFP were able to vet our application and make the award. Within eight weeks we had taken delivery of our new portable changing rooms and it is noticable at this early stage how much they have enhanced the overall set up at Station Park. The Football Partnerships involvement is greatly appreciated by all and i believe our new changing rooms will have a positive effect on player participation and development in the Forfar area”
