The Scottish Football Partnership have made an Award of portable changing rooms to the Pollok United Soccer Academy. These new facilities will complement the clubs new state of the art 3G training centre and the clubs Vice Chair Andy Elliot said, Over the past 2 and a half years I have worked on the development of the above facility which was recently officially opened by the academy. This build involved a number of key partners Community Payback, GHA, Sport Scotland, GCC, Scottish Football Partnership, Network Rail and Video Watchman. The Scottish Football Partnerships role was key, as from a very early stage they became involved and their input was crucial to bringing other stakeholders to the table and committing their funding to the development of a disused red blaze football pitch. Our initial plan for this site was simply to Astroturf the existing pitch, however after securing the changing / storage facilities on condition that the park was fenced in, allowed the project to become a state of the art facility. Without the backing of the SFP, Glasgow City Council would not have given their support and in turn that of GHA and Sport Scotland. The application process we found to be very straight forward and support from the Partnerships secretary Stuart McCaffrey was invaluable. The academy has began to grow already with the use of our own park and the vital welfare facilities SFP have provided, the delight from our coaches of not having to cart around equipment in the back of their own cars has been a joy and the storage will also allow the club to share vital equipment with the other users.Pollok United Soccer Academy are delighted to have the SFP as an integral partner and hope to continue to work with the SFA development staff for many years to come.
