The Scottish Football Partnership Trust has made an award of £1,106 to Lenzie Youth Club to assist with the purchase of portable floodlights. Ian Stevenson from the club said “Lenzie Youth Club is indebted to The Scottish Football Partnership Trust for part-funding a set of eight portable floodlights which we are going to use on the 3G pitch at Lenzie Academy. In past seasons we have not been able to use this facility in the evenings during the winter months as there are no fixed floodlights due to planning restrictions at the site. As there are no other floodlit training facilities in Lenzie, we had previously been forced to carry out our training indoors which is not ideal for the 12 age groups we operate from 1998 to 2010, the sessions were too crowded and we were not able to offer our players enough football contact time throughout the winter. Next season, with our new lights we will have the ability to use the astro-pitch more often, giving us more time and space for coaching and developing our players. Once again, we would like to thank The SFP Trust for their support.”
