The SFP Trust were delighted to be able to award £500 from their Club Development Grant scheme to Milngavie F.C. from the SFA Central region. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust and The Clydesdale Bank was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
This fantastic grassroots club decided to utilise their grant to develop their girls section by adding a new under-7 team. The funding also helped the club to purchase new strips and footballs for this age-group as well as for the girls playing at Under-9 level. Caroline Diaz, the club’s Secretary and Player Protection Officer spoke of how much the girls love playing football and enjoy being with their friends and commented “We were delighted to be able to develop our girls section with this grant. We are now starting to participate in friendly matches and enter tournaments with the younger age-group now that they have their own strips. Many thanks once again to The Scottish Football Partnership Trust for this award”.
