Cumbernauld Colts F.C. recently received a £500 grant from The SFP Trust’s 2019 Club Development Grant scheme. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust, was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
This vibrant grassroots club with a membership of well over 500 players, chose to use their award to support coach education for several of their volunteer coaches. This will allow them to gain their Level 2 coaching certificates to help develop and enhance their knowledge and skills. Stewart McKenzie from the Club said “On behalf of Cumbernauld Colts F.C., I would like to thank The SFP Trust and the KFCT for this grant which has assisted with the club’s extensive coach education programme. With over 100 volunteers this is vital funding to help develop our coaches to be the best that they can be”.
