Our 2022 Club Development initiative was launched in March this year thanks once again to funding from our long-standing partner, The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust. The SFP Trust is committed to supporting and promoting inclusive football participation at grassroots level throughout Scotland and this initiative aims to invest in the development and growth of 60 Scottish FA Quality Mark Clubs, with a focus on increasing and enhancing participation opportunities for players and the continued development of volunteers.
Douglas Youth F.C. who are based in the DD4 area of Dundee opted to use their £500 funding to run a free football class for young children in the local area who might not otherwise have been given the chance to participate in football activity. The cost-of-living crisis has disproportionately affected families in this area of Dundee and it is a struggle for some families to afford club fees. Calum Byres from the club commented “This funding from the SFP Trust and The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust has helped grow this class from 10 youngsters to over 30 and this free football can only help our local community and our growing football club.”
