Claremont AFC were recently awarded £500 from The SFP Trust’s 2019 Club Development Grant scheme. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust, was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
Claremont AFC who are based in East Kilbride and has a playing membership of over 180 players and 38 coaches chose to use their grant to purchase kit, equipment and new strips for those youngsters taking their first steps into the game by joining their Babes Academy and Soccer School. This allows the club to start a new team into the fun fours set-up and has been an important and successful pathway for the club for many years. Harry Beattie from Claremont AFC commented “We are most grateful to The SFP Trust and The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust for this support which will help the youngsters joining our Babes Academy each year and allows them to progress through our various teams.”
