Over the summer, Bonnyton Thistle F.C. from Kilmarnock completed their project to install a covered shelter at their Harriet Road facility in the town thanks to funding from The Scottish Football Partnership Trust’s (SFP Trust) Grassroots Football Facilities Fund which was established with investment received from the Edinburgh philanthropist, Mr. James Anderson.
This vibrant grassroots club deliver football every week for over 300 local players from the age of three through to adults. Their dedicated team of volunteers and coaches also offer a football memories programme, walking football and mental health support groups as well as a food poverty project to the local community.
The club are constantly looking to develop their facilities and approached the SFP Trust in May of this year to assist with the costs of installing a covered shelter at Harriet Road. The site is based within a valley and is very exposed to the elements. This new facility will help provide shelter for the parents, children and participants who all attend training and matches, especially during the winter months. Ian Higgins, Trustee at Bonnyton thanked both Mr. Anderson and The SFP Trust for choosing to invest in the club and for supporting their young players.
