The SFP Trust was delighted to award funding of £500 from their new Club Development Grant scheme to Glenrothes Strollers who are a ‘Legacy Level’ Quality Mark club from the East Region. The club, which offers playing opportunities for boys, girls, para and adult players currently, has a playing membership of over 300 and 35 registered coaches. The initiative was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
The Strollers have utilised their grant on this occasion to support two coaches in attending the Scottish FA’s Children’s Award course. Fiona Redpath who is one of the coaches who will benefit from the award said, “Taking part in the Children’s Award course has been an ambition of mine for a while and something Ross Cafferty who is the clubs development officer has also wanted to participate in to help aid our own coach development. The cost has always been a barrier but having this grant has allowed us to develop our skills further so we can develop better training for the kids in our club. Ross and I both coach a variety of age groups within the club who will all hopefully benefit from our new found knowledge and skills. We also hope to encourage other coaches to attend the courses with support from ourselves once we have completed the course”.
