East of Scotland League club Whitehill Welfare F.C., who are based in Rosewell in Midlothian, were awarded funding through the SFP’s Facility Strategy to assist the club install floodlights at Ferguson Park. This had been a project which Whitehill Welfare had been considering for some time and everyone at the club was absolutely thrilled when this finally happened.
Graeme Kay from Whitehill commented; “To see a tangible result from so much hard work from all involved was fantastic. Floodlights are obviously expensive but thanks to the ongoing support from Whitehill supporters and the wider Midlothian community we were able to secure the funds required and hence retain our Scottish FA licence. We had a number of very successful and well attended fundraising events that took place throughout the last 18 months and all of them were pivotal in helping us reach our goal. On top of that we also had some substantial private donations for which the Club are extremely grateful and humbled. The installation of floodlights really does mean everything to the club and we are now able to experience the rewards of the hard work (even if it still takes a bit of getting used to to watching football under them at home)!”
