Park Sports Project from the Scottish FA West region were awarded £500 from The SFP Trust’s Club Development Grant scheme. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust and The Clydesdale Bank was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
Development Officer Alan Sharp said ”With the support provided from the Scottish Football Partnership Trust we have been able to add both futsal and SAQ sessions into our weekly programmes. The funding was used to purchase specialised equipment (futsal and SAQ equipment) which has allowed our coaches to deliver these additional activities at both community sessions and team training. The equipment has also been used in our schools programme to give even more player the opportunity to experience fustal and SAQ sessions”.
”The additional sessions have proven to be a real hit with the players and coaches and plans are in motion to have stand alone sessions to increase both the number of sessions delivered and number of times players are active during the week.”
