Pittenween Youth Football Club Awarded a container and floodlights.

Pittenween Youth Football Club Awarded a container and floodlights.

June 13, 2012

Pittenweem Youth Football Club is indebted to the Scottish Football Partnership and the support they received could not have come at a better time. This season the SFA Quality Marked club have been running five teams across different age ranges (U’10s,U’12s,U’13s,U’15s and U’17s) for the first time in its 40 year history. On moving to their new shared pavilion at the Recreational park the club soon realised that they had nowhere to safely store any of their equipment. As a consequence players and coaches have had to make do with a limited amount of training kit and equipment on match days and training evenings. Whilst the club’s catchment area now extends well beyond the East Neuk of Fife, they are still very much a small organisation. Even the fantastic backing Pittenweem YFC receives from its player’s parents, supporters and local community would not have been enough to cover the cost of buying a suitable place to store equipment. The package provided by The Scottish Football Partnership of a storage container and floodlights will act as a catalyst for the club. It means they are now able to store all of their kit and equipment on site and can freely access it when it is needed. The portable floodlight will also enable the club to train on grass when the darker nights arrive thus freeing up funds which ordinarily would have been spent hiring other facilities. Club Chairman Andy Anderson said “It’s great to know there is someone out there supporting clubs who are trying to develop football at grass roots level. The application was simple and Stuart McCaffrey, the Secretary of the SFP, was brilliant, not only did he guide us through the whole process  he also took  one of  our teams for a coaching session on one of his visits” .The club have just held their annual awards night and family fun day and are now preparing for next season when they hope to start an U’9s (2004) team. If you are interested in getting involved at Pittenweem Youth Football Club, either playing for one of the teams or helping with coaching please contact the club at Pittenweemyfc@gmail.com.
