New LED Floodlight System – Banks O’Dee Sports Club

The Scottish Football Partnership Trust recently made an Award  (Grassroots Football Facilities Fund) to Banks O’Dee Sports Club to assist with the upgrading of the floodlight system and the installation of LED fittings at Spain Park. The facility which is run by the Sports Club (Registered Charity) hosts around 40 hours of ‘Inclusive’ football activity every week for over 600 playing members (male + female) from under 8’s all the way through to Senior level. In addition to member use, the facility also hosts activity for other community users and local schools with almost 10,000 individual visits per month currently.

The Sports Club’s General Manager Iain Watson Said; “Following an audit from Zero Waste Scotland it was brought to our attention that an upgrade of our existing floodlight system and traditional metal halide lights could help us reduce our energy consumption and running costs by as much as 65%. Upon installing the new System and LED floodlights, including a dali switch, we now have the flexibility to switch on specific areas of the pitch and control the lighting level for training and matches from 100 lux to 300 lux as required. Like many charities facing rising energy costs it was vital that we took steps to ensure a sustainably future for the Sports Club and our users and this project will go along way to helping us achieve this .We would like to thank the staff at The Scottish Football Partnership Trust for their guidance throughout the application process and the Trustees for supporting our project with an award of funding.”
