The Scottish Football Partnership, who awarded grant funding to Cove Rangers F.C. last year to assist with the installation of floodlights at the club’s new ground, were delighted to learn that Balmoral Stadium had been fully completed and would host the club’s first match of the new season against Clachnacuddin at the end of July.
The Highland champions had worked tirelessly to see this project come to fruition – they had been groundsharing since the start of season 2015/16 till the end of last season at a number of other Highland League grounds. In 2016, planning permission was granted for a new purpose-built stadium at Calder Park on the outskirts of Aberdeen, less than a mile from the club’s former home. When the club first approached the SFP, they focussed on one key area of the new development which was the provision of a new floodlight system. The SFP Board agreed to support this element of the club’s plans with an award of £20,000. Keith Moorhouse, Club Chairman said “Cove Rangers Football Club would like to thank The Scottish Football Partnership for their support during the development of our new home, the Balmoral Stadium. Like any major development, it is vital to secure external funding and we appreciate the support received in relation to our new floodlighting system. We would also like to thank Stuart McCaffrey for his time and effort in working with us and making the whole process hassle free. From all at Cove Rangers, thank you!”
