Last week Balgonie Scotia youth football club took delivery of a new containerised changing facility thanks to an award from The Scottish Football Partnership. The changing room package will be utilised at the clubs base at King George V Park in the village of Coaltown of Balgonie. The youth section of the club was founded in 2006 and secretary Jock McPhillips said “we had an idea to get the youngsters in our village off the streets and into our local park with a football. The first night we put on training only 10 or so kids turned up however six years on we have close to 100 kids playing across our six youth teams.” “On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank the Scottish Football Partnership for their support in providing two changing containers, a storage container and our new state of the art portable floodlight. The SFP really pushed the boat out for us all the way through the application process and we finally have a facility that will enable Balgonie Scotia to grow as a club and the provision of a portable floodlight will allow our players to train when weather permits on grass all year round” said Jock.
