Beith Juniors Community F.C. were worthy recipients of a £500 Club Development Grant from The SFP Trust, an initiative which was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment/funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
The club utilised part of the grant to help set-up and establish a new 2012 football team and you can see some of the young players getting ready for one of their first ever football matches. The remaining funding was used to support five of the club’s coaches working at this age-group gain First Aid training and this will directly benefit these young players. Colin Hunter from the club was most grateful for the support given to the club and commented “This grant has allowed us to develop our new 2012 section and to purchase new training kit. It’s great to see these kids taking their first step on their football journey and hopefully they will continue along the player pathway into later life.”
