The SFP Trust was delighted to award funding of £500 from their Club Development Grant scheme to Do Soccer Academy based in the village of Balintore, near Tain in Easter Ross. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust and The Clydesdale Bank was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
Do Soccer opted to use the majority of their award to support Coach Education and this allowed Zak Khan from the club to complete his C Licence and for new coach Scott Crombie to complete his 1.1 course and then progress to gaining his 1.2 certificate. The remaining funds were used to purchase new match footballs for the club’s Under-15 and Under-13 teams. The club’s officials and players were grateful for this funding which allowed them to enhance the quality of coaching offered to the young players and to continue the development of coach education at the club. Do Soccer operate five teams across various age groups and currently having a playing membership of over 60 boys and girls and you can see some of their players at a recent training night.
