Finnart AFC from the Scottish FA West region were grateful to be awarded £500 from The SFP Trust’s Club Development Grant scheme. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust and The Clydesdale Bank was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
This club from the Bridgeton area of Glasgow used their grant to support coach education to benefit the club’s players at the various age-groups from mini-kickers through to the amateur team. Garry Dunlop from Finnart AFC commented on the award and said “Firstly, let me start off by saying a huge thank you to The Scottish Football Partnership Trust. Finnart were lucky enough to obtain funding to allow our coaches to attend coaching courses to further develop their skills, allowing them to pass on their knowledge to the kids at the club. We hope to continue to work with the SFP to allow other funding opportunities within the club and wider community.”
