Our 2022 Club Development initiative, supported by our long-standing partner, The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust (KFCT) was launched earlier this year and awards grants of £500 to 60 Scottish FA Quality Mark Clubs. The SFP Trust is committed to supporting and promoting inclusive football participation at grassroots level throughout Scotland and this initiative aims to invest in the development and growth of these clubs with a focus on increasing and enhancing participation opportunities for players and the continued development of volunteers.
Forfar Community Football Trust, a vibrant club from the SFA East region, provide activity for 246 boys and 205 girls from the local area and recently received funding from this scheme. The Trust opted to use their award to deliver taster sessions within local primary schools, directing young children towards recreational football with the main objective of getting these youngsters involved in fun football activity. The classes were offered free of charge for the first four weeks to allow for more inclusivity. Owen Mackenzie from FCFT commented “I have been out and have delivered the majority of the taster sessions. It was great to get into the local schools to build stronger links between the Trust and the children and hopefully this will develop further as time goes on, allowing similar activities to be delivered. This has also achieved a closer working relationship between the Trust and active schools who know the needs of those within the community best. We are all most grateful to the SFP Trust and KFCT for investing in our Trust.”
