The SFP Trust was delighted to award funding of £500 from their 2019 Club Development Grant scheme to Strathaven Dynamo A.F.C. from The Scottish FA South West region. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust, was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
This fantastic grassroots club, who operate 17 teams playing fun fours all the way through to 11-a-side, opted to use their award to support the recruitment of their new 2014 intake which would also involve some coach education for new volunteers assisting with the 2014 age-group. Over the past few years, new recruits to the club have numbered around 30 to 40 and this year was no different. As part of the club’s development plan each year, in conjunction with the Active Schools Co-ordinator, they start a new age group of Primary 1 children from the local schools. Frank McGraw, Chairman said “This grant has benefitted Strathaven Dynamo with funding able to provide our new youngsters with size 3 balls (enough for one each), samba goals, various coloured bibs, marker discs and cones and first aid equipment. This generous award also allows other funds to be used for coach education and first aid training for the new volunteer coaches of our new recruits and we are most grateful to both The SFP Trust and The KFCT for this funding”.
