Turriff United Youth F.C. from the Scottish FA North region were recent recipients of a £500 grant from The SFP Trust’s 2020 Club Development Grant scheme. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust, was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
This vibrant and ever-growing grassroots club who provide activity for over 245 boys and 83 girls are supported by 55 volunteer coaches who give of their time freely to support local youngsters playing fun fours all the way through to 11-a-side football. The club opted to use their award to further Coach Education at the club and 10 new coaches will benefit from attending Coach Education courses and First Aid training. Lynn Jex from Turriff United YFC commented on the award by thanking by the SFP Trust and The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust for the funding and said “Getting this grant means so much to the club – we are continuing to grow in strength in terms of player registrations and number of volunteer coaches. We work hard to ensure our coaches are meeting required SFA coaching qualifications as we work towards our next SFA Quality Mark.”
