Westdyke Community Club, who have a membership of over 450 players across 23 teams, were delighted to receive an award of £500 from The SFP Trust’s 2019 Club Development Grant scheme. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust, was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
This fantastic community club from the Westhill area of Aberdeen strive to make every player as good as they can be and decided to utilise their grant to purchase new equipment for their 2009 squad and also to use part of the funding to allow some of their volunteer coaches to attend First Aid courses. Gillian Robson, Vice-Secretary of the club said “Our Westdyke Community Club 2009 squad received their new equipment funded by the generous award from the SFP Trust and The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust. Our young players used it for the first time last night and were very excited and delighted to try out some new drills. One of our players, Alex said “The new equipment is great and will be used every week to help us improve our skills and speed.”
