We’re delighted to announce the completion of a floodlighting project at Denmore Park, Aberdeen.
Long winter nights in Scotland can make things difficult for community football clubs. Without adequate lighting systems, clubs are limited in the number and length of sessions they can provide. Additionally, inefficient lighting can see energy costs soar, putting undue financial pressure on our cash-strapped grassroots clubs.
At The Scottish Football Partnership Trust, our Lighting Up Our Game facility project is designed to help clubs upgrade their floodlighting, making systems more effective and more cost efficient.
Last year, we worked closely with Denmore Park, home of Hall Russell United FC, in Aberdeen, to upgrade the facility’s floodlights. This project was completed in December 2024, with Denmore Park now boasting a state-of-the-art floodlighting system.
The Scottish Football Partnership Trust CEO Sandy Hodge said: “We were absolutely delighted to have been involved with this project. Working alongside Foundation Scotland, we were able to support Denmore Park and Hall Russell United FC in the planning and installation of a brand-new floodlighting system.”
Not only will these new floodlights allow for more football matches and training sessions, but the lighting’s improved energy efficiency capabilities also mean that running costs and energy bills will see a reduction.”
Hall Russell United FC Treasury Accountant and First Team Manager Craig Carroll said: “The club are delighted to announce the successful completion of our project to install energy efficient and state-of-the-art floodlighting to our facility at Denmore Park.
“The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our fantastic partners, sponsors and individual donators who have contributed to making this dream a reality. We therefore thank The Scottish Football Partnership Trust, Foundation Scotland and all our individual donators. We cannot thank you all enough.”
This project is a perfect example of the work The Scottish Football Partnership Trust does to support grassroots football clubs across Scotland, whether that’s through financial support, new lighting, pitches or changing facilities. Reach and get in touch to find out how you can get involved.
