Facility Upgrade at Vics in the Community

Last week, The Scottish Football Partnership Trust was delighted to attend the opening ceremony for the newly upgraded club facilities at Vics in the Community.

The development has transformed a previously derelict pavilion at Whitletts Activity Centre into a modern, welcoming community hub complete with upgraded changing facilities. The new space will support the delivery of football and wellbeing programmes for hundreds of children, adults and families from the surrounding area.

SFPT was proud to support the project alongside key partners, including the Scottish FA, sportscotland and others, working collaboratively to help bring the refurbishment to life.

Vics in the Community took over the lease of the football pitch and pavilion in 2022, following steady growth since its inception in 2018. Established to provide activities for children in a deprived area, the organisation has continued to expand its reach and impact, particularly through the development of health and wellbeing programmes in response to increased community need since the pandemic.

Today, the charity supports more than 300 children and young people aged 5–19, up to 100 adults, and over 500 families through its wider community support and wellbeing work. Prior to the refurbishment, the condition of the pavilion limited the organisation’s ability to grow its football programmes and provide appropriate facilities for participants.

The newly upgraded hub will now play a key role in enabling Vics in the Community to expand its football provision, improve the experience for players and volunteers, and create a safe, inclusive environment where community activity can continue to thrive.

Supporting projects like this is central to our mission. By investing in facilities and working in partnership with clubs and organisations on the ground, the Trust aims to help create sustainable environments that allow grassroots football and the wider community benefits it brings to flourish.

We’re proud to have been involved in this project and to support Vics in the Community in creating facilities that will benefit the local community for years to come.
