Forfar Athletic F.C have been given an Award from The Scottish Football Partnership to assist with the cost of installing a new floodlight system at Station Park. Club Director Dennis Fenton said,”Forfar Athletic Football Club are once more indebted to The Scottish Football Partnership for their valuable assistance in providing a substantial grant to allow the Club to renew their ageing floodlighting system. Following the installation of a state of the art 3G synthetic surface during the 2012/2013 close season, it became apparent that due to the popularity by local Clubs and the Community to utilise the facility, that the current floodlighting system could not cope with the increased strain being placed upon it over the winter months. Forfar officials contacted a number of Companies who provided plans and costings for a complete renewal of the entire system, and eventually a local contractor was selected. The new system not only provides sufficient lighting capability for evening television games, but also is much more energy efficient that the old system. The system has the option to run “training lights only” or the full 500 Lux power for full games. A request was then made to The Scottish Football Partnership for grant assistance which was given. Over this summer the system has been installed ,tested, and is already receiving excellent reviews from Community groups and local teams. This assistance from the S.F.P. follows previous assistance in upgrading the toilet facilities at Station Park and also the supply of two changing rooms and a storage container all of which have enhanced the facilities at the ground”.
