Hillwood Community Sports Hub Opens with SFPT Support

In October 2024, The Scottish Football Partnership Trust attended an opening ceremony for a brand-new sports hub in the Priesthill area of Glasgow. The Hillwood Community Sports Hub, established by the Hillwood Community Trust, opened its doors after 25 years of planning by Hillwood Community Trust Founder and Chairman Willie Smith.

The Scottish Football Partnership Trust are incredibly proud to have been involved with such an exciting project. With our support, the Hillwood Community Sports Hub is now open and offering facilities, including new synthetic and grass pitches, inclusive changing rooms and a function hall, for use by local residents. This will be a welcome addition to the local area, providing sports opportunities for Hillwood Football Club and numerous other community groups.

Sandy Hodge, CEO of The Scottish Football Partnership Trust, said: It’s great to be here at the opening of the Hillwood Community Sports Hub, a project that The Scottish Football Partnership Trust have been able to support in terms of investment. It’s been a phenomenal project and it’s the epitome of what The Scottish Football Partnership Trust wants to do.”

This is what we’re all about at The Scottish Football Partnership Trust – supporting and empowering local grassroots clubs for the benefits of the Scottish game and wider society. Our mission is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to access and benefit from community football, regardless of age, gender, ability or social background.

Hillwood Community Trust Founder and Chairman Willie Smith said: “We had great support from The Scottish Football Partnership Trust. They were extremely helpful; they came in at a critical time and their support was vital to the completion of the project. For that we are extremely grateful.”
