Motherwell F.C. Community Trust recently benefitted from an award from The Scottish Football Partnership Trust’s (SFP Trust) Grassroots Football Facilities Fund which was established with investment received from the Edinburgh philanthropist, Mr. James Anderson.
This fantastic and vibrant club deliver community participation teams for both boys and girls at twelve different age-levels and also run walking football and para football squads for players in their local community. As well as delivering football activity, the Trust are also heavily invested in numerous diversionary programmes and community wellbeing projects.
This grassroots activity is delivered from the club’s Fir Park Astro training facility in Dalziel Drive in Motherwell which is in use seven days a week. Like many clubs, Motherwell FCCT were hugely concerned about the current and impending rises in the cost of electricity and were looking at ways to reduce the cost implications for the club. With this in mind, they approached the SFP Trust earlier in the year with plans to upgrade the floodlights to LED lights. The project is now complete thanks to the funding from the James Anderson Facilities Fund and this upgrade will go a long way to ensure a sustainable future for the club and its grassroots players.
