Queen of the South F.C have been given an Award to assist with the cost of creating a new 3G playing surface at Palmerston Park. The project represents an investment of circa £500,000 in football facilities in Dumfries and Galloway and it was funded by The Scottish Football Partnership, D & G Council, Sportscotland and Queen of the South F.C. The clubs new FIFA 2 Star synthetic pitch will be available for training and matches all year round and will be used by the 1st Team ( home matches in the SPFL Championship) and youth teams as well as local community clubs/groups and neighbouring schools. Queen’s Chairman Billy Hewitson said; “Palmerston will now be accessible on a daily basis and this will enable Queen of the South F.C to become a club which is based truly within the heart of the community. Without the support provided by the Football Partnership this project would not have been possible”.
