The SFP Trust was delighted to award funding of £500 from their new Club Development Grant scheme to Salvesen Community Football Club from the SFA South East Region. The initiative, funded by the SFP Trust in partnership with The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust and The Clydesdale Bank was developed to assist grassroots clubs in three specific areas – to increase participation by adding a new team to a club’s existing membership; to improve, enhance and sustain existing team activity through the purchase of new training equipment and/or funding First Aid training for coaches or thirdly to support Coach Education.
The club opted to utilise their grant to purchase kit and equipment for three of their young age-groups. Salvesen currently operate 15 teams for boys ranging from fun-fours to 11-a-side and these youngsters are supported by 35 volunteer coaches. Lynne Sharkey, Club Secretary added “We are so grateful to The Scottish Football Partnership Trust for awarding our club with a £500 grant. We have more and more young children wanting to get involved in grassroots football and we have noticed a higher intake of children lately. The grant has been well utilised and we have managed to help 3 age groups within the club with the purchase of new training goals for one of our 2007 teams, new goals for our growing 2010 team and kit for our growing 2009 teams. Many thanks to The SFP Trust for this award.”
