The Scottish Football Partnership Trust was delighted to be able to assist Fifers for the Community with an award to help with the installation of a new 3G pitch at Bayview Stadium, the home of East Fife F.C. The new pitch will be used by East Fife Girls and Womens F.C. and East Fife Youth Academy as well as other local youth and amateur clubs and nearby schools. East Fife F.C. will play their SPFL and Scottish FA matches on the surface and at all other times, the pitch – which can provide up to five playing areas – will be made available for community use.
The Trustees of the charity group, FFTC worked tirelessly to see the project come to fruition and as well as local fundraising, the Trustees managed to successfully secure grant funding from key funding partners including Fife Council, sportscotland and the SFP Trust. It is hoped that the new surface will offer much needed sporting and social facilities seven days a week to the Levenmouth community.
The official opening of the new facility took place on Sunday, 1st October with a match between East Fife GWFC and Hearts WGFC, with the home club winning the match 2 – 1.
