Victoria Park F.C., a growing club in the west end of Glasgow, was fortunate enough to receive a Growing the Game award from The SFP Trust to establish a new Under-9’s team for local girls. The club has seen an overall increase in child participation from starting with just 10 players to over 50 in the space of 18 months. On receiving the award, Colin McGeoch from Victoria Park F.C. said “This award provided vital funding and allowed us to set-up a new Under-9’s team in February 2016. These young girls have a great time playing 4-a-side development games within the SWF (Scottish Women’s football). As a club, we are really excited to have a girls’ team and to be part of the continual growth of women’s football in Scotland.”
