Week 4 of FooTea took place last Friday at Cumbernauld Colts with the kids from Eastfield and Westfield Primary schools. This week saw the children concentrating again on the theme of dribbling, with the coaches helping the youngsters to develop their new skills whilst encouraging them to listen and adhere to the rules and urging them to respect their fellow players and coaches. The kids were fantastic as they practised continuous dribbling around the markers, moving quickly and cutting across each other as they tried to score. This week’s nutritional education focused on energy levels and the different types of food that help supply that energy and the importance of having three well-balanced meals and three well-balanced snacks each day to keep their energy levels consistent. Energy levels are never low at Cumbernauld – the kids are always excited, enthusiastic and animated at FooTea!!
The children had all worked so hard that they certainly deserved their chicken and vegetable curries which had been prepared for them, followed by a selection of fresh fruit and bottles of water. Week 5 will see the kids concentrate on developing their techniques on the pitch and they will focus on the nutrients that the three main food groups can provide in their diet.
