Last Friday the kids from Eastfield, Westfield and Baird Memorial Primary Schools completed Week 5 of FooTea!
For the football hour, the youngsters focused on technique and control where they were encouraged by coach Alex to develop their ball control, chipped passes, volleys and heading. This was a great success and it was fantastic to see the children passing and dribbling with the ball, moving into free spaces on the pitch, calling for the ball from their teammates and trying for volleys at goal. Before heading to the café for some homemade soup and baked potatoes, the youngsters had time to read and complete their workbooks which concentrated on the three main food groups – carbohydrates, proteins and fats and how each of these food groups provide them with all the different nutrients they need in their daily lives. They were quick to pick up that carbs are needed for energy, proteins help to build their bodies and fats keep their skin and brain healthy. We look forward to seeing all the kids next week for another fun-filled FooTea!
