The SFP Trust has just launched its new 2023 Club Development initiative, made possible thanks to generous funding received from our long-standing partner, the Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust.
As well as receiving support from the KFCT, the SFP Trust and The Scottish F.A. also invested sums in the initiative which is delivered in partnership with SFA Regional Staff. Areas of support include developing and promoting inclusive participation for new teams with special consideration given to para football, opportunities for refugees and the provision of free “Come and Play” recreational activity. Another area of support is aimed at specifically developing and growing the girls and women’s game.
East Kilbride United F.C. opted to use their funding to increase their girls section. Graeme Robertson from the club commented “We recently started a Girls Football Section which has proven to be very successful. We intend to increase this even more by offering free sessions and providing training kit to all those who join the club. We find that the provision of club kit is very well received by the players and encourages a feeling of being part of the club family, strengthens that bond and helps the girls develop an attachment to the club. Alongside the introduction of the new Girls Section, we hope to develop 5 new coaches to deliver training sessions and match play. We have 37 girls within the club and would like to increase this by approximately 20 in the next stage of our club’s development. We are most grateful for the support received via this initiative.”
