THE SFP TRUST AWARDED £3,000 GRANT FROM THE CRERAR TRUST

  • Grant to be used to provide Forres Mechanics F.C. Youths and Nairn County F.C. Youths with Portable Floodlights.
  • Crerar Hotels uniquely makes up to 50% of distributable profits available to its registered charity
  • Crerar Trust has now made over £7m in grants over last 16 years
  • Current funding round issued over £385,000 to 50 organisations

The Crerar Trust recently announced that it had awarded a grant of £3,000 to The Scottish Football Partnership Trust.

The SFP Trust will use the funding to assist two community football clubs in the North of Scotland – Forres Mechanics F.C. Youths and Nairn County F.C. Youths by providing each club with a set of eight portable floodlights. These new floodlights will help both clubs to enhance their ability to provide training activity throughout the winter months.  Over the winter period, these clubs were finding it extremely difficult to access nearby and affordable training facilities and these new floodlights will help remove these barriers to participation and will assist in supporting the clubs’ young players to remain active throughout the 12 months of the year.

Crerar Hotels operate 12 hotels and inns across the UK, of which 11 are based in Scotland.  Uniquely, up to 50% of the group’s distributable profits are donated to charities operating within areas where Crerar Hotels are based.

The Trust, which is chaired by Paddy Crerar, has awarded £7m of grants to over 400 organisations over the last 16 years.  This forms part of a commitment to re-invest in the communities in which the group’s hotels and inns are based.

The Crerar Trust meets twice a year to award grants, with application periods closing on 1st April and 1st October respectively.  In this current funding round, £385,000 of grants were awarded to 50 organisations.

A wide variety of organisations received awards, including those providing support across health, education and social inclusion to people of all ages.

Paddy Crerar, Chairman of the Crerar Trust and Chief Executive of Crerar Hotels commented;

“We are delighted to have made this award to The SFP Trust and look forward to hearing how this funding impacts their works. Crerar Hotels is committed to giving back to the local community to help it grow and thrive and provide opportunities that may otherwise seem out of reach.  For every stay our customers have with us they are supporting others who really need it.  It is great for our folk in the hotels to see their hard work and efforts helping people in their own communities as well as those from throughout the whole of Scotland and Yorkshire.”

Stuart McCaffrey, Chief Operating Officer of the SFP Trust added;

“We are most grateful to the Crerar Trust for this kind donation.  Awarding such equipment removes the burden on community clubs to continually fundraise and allows these youngsters to take part in organised training evenings in a safe and fun environment, where they will be taught not only football skills but the benefits that regular exercise can bring.”
