The kids from St. Winning’s and Pennyburn Primaries once again came together for week Five of FooTea on 25th November. The football hour saw the kids focus on technique and control, where they were encouraged by the coaches to develop their ball control, chipped passes, volleys and heading. This was a great success and it was fantastic to see the children passing and dribbling with the ball, moving into free spaces on the pitch, calling for the ball from their teammates and trying for volleys at goal. The kids were energetic, excited ….. and eventually exhausted after their time on the astro-turf! Before heading to the café for much needed food and refreshments, the youngsters had time to read and complete their workbooks which this week concentrated on the three main food groups – carbohydrates, proteins and fats and how they need each of these food groups to provide them with all the different nutrients in their daily lives. They were quick to pick up that carbs are needed for energy, proteins help to build and repair the body and fats insulate the body and keep their skin and brain healthy. We look forward to seeing all the kids next week for another fun-filled FooTea!
